While you're inviting your clients to Coconut, we advise accountants to communicate with their clients about it in some way.

How you communicate will depend on the relationship you have with your client, but the following resources should help you. Good communication about the reason for signing up to Coconut can make all the difference in getting your clients onboarded and saving you time:

  1. Client 1 pager PDF

  2. Sample Emails explaining Coconut

  3. Videos showing how Coconut works

  4. Support Centre resources for Clients

1. Client 1 pager PDF

We have created the following page for sharing with your client that explains the reasons for Coconut and why they should onboard:

If you'd prefer to send a PDF, you can download that here:

2. Sample emails

Here are two sample emails you can share with your clients:

Long Version

Hi X

I’m starting to move some clients to Coconut, and wanted to tell you about it before I send an invite to you to download their app. Coconut is a simple accounting app for self-employed people and their accountants.

A bit about it:

  • A simple mobile app, already used by thousands of self-employed people like you.

  • Gives you insight about your income and expenses, and suggestions for how much to set-aside for tax.

  • All the information is shared with me automatically, so I won’t pester you to send me statements, invoices, receipts etc.

  • The process of preparing your tax return will be much easier for us both and we can work together more efficiently.

Once you’ve signed up for the app, you’ll be asked to connect any bank accounts and credit cards you use for your business, which will then give me read-only access too. It uses ‘Open Banking’, which is used by millions of people in the UK to securely send transaction data from your bank to apps like Coconut. And Coconut are regulated by the FCA too.

Once you’ve taken a couple of minutes to sign up, you can use the app as little or as much as you want - you might like to try out their invoicing tool for example. Whilst it’s a mobile app, you can also use Coconut on the web once you’re signed up.
