Fixing Santander Duplicate Transactions
Santander has recently updated how they share data with apps like Coconut. Because of this update, you will need to connect a new "feed" for your bank account.
This process will leave you with two accounts on your Coconut dashboard
The "Legacy" Account: This contains all your historical transactions up to the day the connection changed. It will no longer receive new updates.
The "New" Account: This will handle all your transactions from now on.
The Issue: When you connect the new account, it will automatically download some older transactions that are already sitting in your "Legacy" account. To ensure your tax reports are accurate, you need to mark these duplicates as "hidden."
Step 1: Connect your new feed
Go to the 'Add new account' section in Coconut.
Select Santander and follow the prompts to link your account.
Once finished, you will see your new account alongside your old one (which will now be labeled "Legacy").
Step 2: Clear the duplicates (Recommended on a Computer)
It is much faster to do this via Coconut on the Web using a laptop or desktop.
Find your "Cut-off Date": Look at your Legacy account and find the date of the very last transaction. This is your "cut-off date."
Go to the 'Banks feed' tab: Select your new Santander connection
Increase View: At the bottom of the page, change the display amount to 100 so you can process more transactions at once.
Select & Hide: Select all transactions that overlap with the "cut-off date" on your legacy connection.
Repeat: Continue until all transactions dated on or before your cut-off date have been removed from the new account view.
Important Notes
Safety: "Marking as duplicate" does not delete the data forever; it simply hides it so it isn't counted twice in your tax totals.
Mistakes: If you accidentally hide a transaction you actually needed, don't worry! Contact our support team, and we can restore it for you.
One-time fix: You only need to do this once. Moving forward, your new feed will work as normal.
