What is GDPR?
From May 25th, 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will come into effect, replacing the Data Protection Act (1998). The new regulation is designed to ensure your data is properly handled by companies that have access to it. This is a tighter measure that gives you more control and say over what companies can do with your information. Simply put, it’s a better reflection of the increasing importance placed on data today.

We’ll be rolling out an update to the Coconut app in the coming weeks, with changes that give you more control over your data and communication preferences. You’ll be able to turn Coconut Updates on and off with a single tap, as well as see and adjust the information we hold on you.
What does this mean for Coconut?
We’re happy about the change because it’s designed to give you more confidence in our core values: treating your information with respect, storing it securely and handling it responsibly. We’ve tweaked a few things here and there to make sure we’re fully compliant with GDPR and requested that any third parties we work with are on the same page - literally, with co-signed Data Protection Agreements.
We’ll never give consent to any third party to contact you and you’ll easily be able to opt in and out of any marketing from Coconut. We try to keep all of our communication relevant and engaging, aimed at helping you get the most out of our service and ultimately solving your business needs.
