Sometimes we’ll ask you to provide additional information and proof of business. This information will be useful in understanding the business/work that you do, which is a requirement for us to meet financial regulations. It also allows us to understand what you are looking to get out of using Coconut which helps us to develop the product.

We accept the following as proof of business:

Online accounts

  • Website 
  • Online marketplace (eBay, Amazon, Etsy, etc.)
  • LinkedIn profile
  • Business social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
  • Business directory (Yell and similars)

If your online presence is relatively new, we may ask you to provide further proof of business. 


A letter from HMRC with your name and UTR (if you’re a sole trader).


Signed contracts of employment.


Either your own or your employees’. This must be dated within the past 6 months.

Invoices or Receipts

Both purchase and sales invoices are valid, but these must be sent together with the corresponding bank statement.  

Printed advertising

A picture of your marketing materials, such as flyers or other printed advertising.

Proof of physical presence of the business

Your physical address with a signed rental agreement. 

Proof of relevant training

Relevant professional qualifications such as Health and Social Care, Electrical Installations, Plumbing, Financial Advice, etc.

Industry registrations / licences

Your Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) registration, Food Business Licence, Private Hire Vehicle Licence, registration with a Landlord’s Redress Scheme, Air Travel Organisers License (ATOL), etc.

Alternative proofs of business will be considered however we may ask you for further information about the nature of your business.
