If you find yourself sending the same amount, at a regular frequency, to the same payee, you might want to consider using a Standing Order to automate those payments.
Alternatively, if you know you'll need to send money to a payee on a specific date but you don't want to forget, you can schedule the payment as well.
You can do both of these in the app:
Scheduling a Payment
Simply head into the 'Payments' tab and select the payee you want to pay (or create one first).
You'll then see the 'Schedule payment' bar appear. Toggling this 'ON' will reveal the options to:
- Set a date for the first payment
- Define how often you want it to repeat
The default repeat option here is 'Never', which is what you'll want if you want this to be a one-off payment in the future)
Be sure to check the details in the preview.
Once you're ready, finish the steps to schedule your payment
Setting up a Standing Order
Follow the same steps, as you would, to schedule a payment but select a date to 'Stop repeating'.
Check the preview details and finish setting up your Standing Order, then go back to taking care of more important things.
It will look something like this:
A few things to remember
Viewing, Editing, Cancelling Scheduled Payments or Standing Orders
This is a new feature and we're still adding functionality. You'll be able to fully manage these types of payments in the app, after upcoming updates.
For now, if you'd like to view, edit or cancel a Scheduled Payment or Standing Order, just chat to our Support team via the app. The team will be able to action your request during our working hours.
We'll keep you updated
You'll get automated push notifications, via the app, 24 hours before a payment is scheduled to leave your account so it's important that you have these turned on. Head to the 'More' tab and 'Settings' to check if you're unsure.
We'll also let you know if it's unsuccessful due to insufficient funds. You'll have until 7am (allowing for up to 2 hours with Faster Payments), on the payment day, to transfer funds into your account so there's enough for us to send your payment at 9am.
Check everything and, if in doubt, ask us for help
Always check the details of your payee to ensure you've used the correct account number and sort code they've provided, since we can't guarantee these funds will be returned if they go to the wrong account.
If you have any questions about this, experience any issues or suspect you've been asked to pay someone under false pretences, let us know via the in-app chat or by email and our team will be happy to help.
